The Safe Sporter ♥ Review *Giveaway Closed*

Remember the Safe Sippy 2 review that I shared last month? Well today I'm going to introduce you to the Safe Sporter, a new cup that Kid Basix has added to their "Safe" line of stainless steel products. Now your infant can use the Safe Starter, you can grab a Safe Sippy 2 for your toddler, and your older children can take the 12-0z Safe Sporter anywhere (this size is perfect for lunchboxes, too). There is even a 16-oz size for adults or big kids!

According to Kid Basix, the Safe Sporter features:
  • A removable dust cap to keep the spout clean.
  • Single-walled design for increased capacity.
  • A colorful protective band to protect hands from cold liquid.
  • A footpad ("coaster") to prevent rings on tables and protect the bottom of the bottle.
  • Three bright, modern colors per size.
My Thoughts/Review:

Thanks to Kid Basix, I was able to review a 16-oz Safe Sporter.

I like the way the Safe Sporter is made - it's comfortable to grip, is designed attractively, and the dust cap is a really nice feature. I also found it easy to take along without having to worry about leaking.

The Pull Spout: My husband plays basketball and grabbed the Safe Sporter right before a game. I thought it would be a great opportunity to hear his take on the cup and eagerly awaited his opinion so I could share it with you all. He came back complaining that he had to hold the pull spout all the way out with his teeth while taking a swig - he couldn't get the water fast enough on breaks. So he wasn't real impressed - BUT I have to keep in mind that these guys need to drink a lot during their two-minute-or-so breaks. John's issue was that it wouldn't come out fast enough, but I suspect he would have preferred a plastic squeezable water bottle. I myself took a drink and found that the spout does slip to the halfway position. This doesn't stop me from getting plenty to drink in a swig, though. I didn't have a problem with it and most kids won't, either.

Note: I contacted Kid Basix about this and was told that this is going to be corrected in the next production run - the spout will be able to be held in the "open" position more firmly. For now, this is not a problem for most people - the only complaints have been from moms of children 18 months-2 years because these children have been breastfeeding and push the spout in accidentally.

I suspect that my husband is just picky. ;-) But I thought you should know.

Conclusion:

I think that this is a great product - I am very satisfied with it and feel that is it superior to what you would find in the travel or sport cup section in stores. I'm loving that it's stainless steel, too. I don't like using plastics for drinking/eating so this fits right in with the kinds of products I want to keep around. I recommend it!

Buy it!

You can buy the Safe Sporter at Amazon.com for $14.99 for the 12 oz and $15.99 for the 16 oz!

The Safe Sippy 2 Review and Giveaway

Have you had a sippy cup fail you? I have. I have a straw sippy cup that I bought that drives me crazy. It has so many problems it's not even funny - the straw falls out on the inside so often that I have to keep a close eye out and be sure that Emma is actually getting the liquid inside her cup. It never seems to get clean. It's plastic plastic plastic. And sometimes the pressure inside causes the lid to be so tight I can't get it off. Even my husband has trouble getting it off then, and he's a strong guy! Is it too much to ask that a sippy straw cup work right?

Apparently not, if you buy the Safe Sippy 2! The Safe Sippy 2 is the first ever sippy to straw cup - 2 in 1! Awesome because you don't have to buy multiple cups as your child grows and is ready to move to a straw cup like "big people". Or, like me, you can buy multiple Safe Sippy 2 cups so that you have enough of this cool cup! :-)

Reasons to Buy the Safe Sippy 2:

  • Clean, non-leaching stainless steel (keeps drinks cold!)
  • Easy grip insulating sleeve (protects little fingers from cold)
  • Removable handles
  • BPA and phthalate free!
  • Dishwasher safe
  • 2 in 1 - sippy to straw cup
  • Holds 11 ounces
This stainless steel cup is a wonderful alternative to dangerous plastics, many of which have been proven to leak toxic chemicals.

The Safe Sippy 2 is made for children age 6 months and up. I'm sure you'll be as happy as I was to discover that there are also baby bottles (The Safe Starter) and sport cups (The Safe Sporter)!

It's funny, I never would have thought that I would care so much about which cup or bottle that my baby uses, but I do. Some products are just not made too well and they can make life harder than it should be. I'm all for products that make life easier now that I've had some experience as a parent. :-) Having products that do their job well makes mommy happy - which makes the whole family happier!
My experience with the Safe Sippy 2:

1. It lives up to its claims to be easy to clean, easy to remove the cap and change from sippy to straw in a flash, and the straw never falls out on the inside! Yay!
2. It keeps Emma's milk cold longer because it's stainless steel and insulated. Love it!
3. It isn't completely leak-proof (drips sometimes when it's on its side in straw cup mode) but I think the pros completely make up for this. And if you need it to be leak-proof (like if you want to put it in your purse or diaper bag) you can use the included no-leak piece (see video review below). It also comes with a plastic cover for the top.

Greenfeet Bamboo Baby Utensils ♥ Review and Giveaway!

Today I want to introduce you to Greenfeet - if you haven't been there, you're missing out. I could spend hours browsing and drooling, drooling and browsing... my wishlist is packed!

About Greenfeet

(From their website)
Welcome to Greenfeet! We truly want your experience to be fun and educational. We are dedicated to helping you make informed decisions about our products, so you are 100% confident in your purchase. Our first responsibility is to provide high-quality, truly natural products that you can trust. If you don't trust us, then you won't buy from us again and, quite frankly, we don't like that any more than you do. We continually strive to:
  • Live by the philosophy that our customers are like family, treating each one with respect and honesty.
  • Treat our employees with respect, loyalty and fairness. Their commitment is key to Greenfeet's success.
  • Be socially and environmentally active in our local community, and conduct business in an ethical and responsible manner.

Their Bambu Store is full of beautiful, well-made bamboo utensils, cutting boards, and bowls, plates, and cups of all sizes and shapes. They even have a special Bamboo Store just for kids! I want to fill my kitchen with their beautiful bamboo-ware, let me tell you! Here are some of my favorites:

Bamdino Plates and Utensil Set

Triple Dip Serving Tray and Large Salad Bowl

Kids' Cooking Utensil Set

Thanks to Greenfeet, I was able to try their Baby's Bamboo Utensil Set! You actually get two sets in one package - two baby forks and two baby spoons, which of course I like because it's always nice to have extras on hand. ;-)

Each kid's utensil set contains a solid bamboo fork and spoon designed specifically for small hands and small mouths. Constructed and designed to be handed down, these utensils are crafted from a solid piece of bamboo and finished with a food safe oil. This children's bamboo utensil set is safe and sustainable. Applesauce never tasted so good.

So why go bamboo?

There has been a lot of talk about the dangers of using plastics. Thankfully there are safer and BPA-free options available, but if you want to skip the whole issue and go with something totally safe and natural, this is the way to go! I've actually purchased two sets of plastic baby utensils and not been happy with either. One set is hard for Emma to hold (thin metal handle) and the other has handles that are way too long. This set is perfect for us for quite a few reasons:
  • Just the right length - baby can grasp the handle easily and bring it to her mouth with ease.
  • I like the spoon size because I can get a decent amount of food in the spoon. Some of those other spoons are just so ridiculously tiny! My daughter doesn't do small bites. lol
  • The texture isn't too smooth and slippery. There's just enough roughness to make it easy for baby to get all the food on the spoon.

Bamboo for Baby Party ♥ Bamboobino Review & Giveaway

I have fallen head over heels for bamboo fabric, folks. It's one of the softest fabrics I've come across, is environmentally friendly, and is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic. It's the perfect choice for babies (or anyone) with sensitive skin. Try it, you'll love it!

Find out more about bamboo fabric here: What's So Special About Bamboo?

About Bamboobino:

I'm a mum of 2 children, aged 2 & 5. Bamboobino was born out of wanting the softest, most practical and least damaging (to humans and to the environment) fabric for my children. We've used bamboo for years; and since discovering bamboo, I've wanted to share this wonderful fiber with other families.

Some of my favorite Bamboobino products include:

No-Scratch Mittens
(I think these would be wonderful for newborn babies!)

Bamboo Hooded Enclosed Baby Wraps

My Review:
Thanks to Bamboobino, I was able to review a fitted bamboo crib sheet. All I can say is that I have one lucky baby! These sheets are extremely soft - a nice change from cheap cotton. If that crib had been big enough for two... lol! Me, jealous? Never!

Anyway, I think these sheets are very worth the purchase. First of all, bamboo fabric lasts longer than regular cotton fabric. Second, it is known for being more absorbent than cotton - it keeps baby dryer and therefore cool in warmer weather and warm in cooler weather. My favorite features of the fitted crib sheet are the width/length indicators at each corner. I don't know about you, but I have spent too much time trying to put the sheets on when my brain is foggy and I'm practically sleep-walking in the middle of the night. That is not a problem anymore! At least not when I use these sheets. :-)

Sheet details:

♥ Two sizes to fit standard crib 132cm x 71 cm x 20 cm (52" x 28" x 8") and oval bassinet 81cm x 40.5cm (32" x 16")

♥ Perfect for babies with environmental allergies or sensitive skin.

♥ 70bamboo/30organic cotton.

Giveaway!

One of you lucky mommies is going to win your own bamboo fitted crib sheet from Bamboobino!
