Booking Through Thursday

Today's Booking Through Thursday question is

“Name a favorite literary couple and tell me why they are a favorite. If you cannot choose just one, that is okay too. Name as many as you like–sometimes narrowing down a list can be extremely difficult and painful. Or maybe that’s just me.”

This one took some thought!

Anne and Gilbert, of course! Because Gilbert waited for Anne to realize she loved him.

“Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart it’s pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps... perhaps... love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.”

-Anne of the Island, L.M. Montgomery

Molly Gibson and Roger Hamley from Wives and Daughters - because they were so sweet and romantic in the end, and she patiently loved him even when he foolishly engaged himself to her stepsister. Okay, I didn't finish the book yet but I do love the movie. :-)

A favorite quote (from movie):
Miss Phoebe: We always knew Roger Hamley loved our Molly.
Miss Browning: We knew no such thing, Phoebe.
Miss Phoebe: Well, he rode seven miles to bring her a wasp's nest and you don't do that for no reason!

Shiloh and Cheney from Gilbert Morris' Cheney Duvall series because they loved each other through thick and thin, even though Cheney knew she couldn't marry him because he wasn't a Christian (and because they're perfect for each other!).
"It's because of you that I have to go, Cheney. And because of you that I'll come back."
- Shiloh, to Cheney
And I know it's probably totally pathetic (and no comparison to the couples above) to say Edward and Bella from Twilight but they have been a favorite in the past. ;-) Why? I'm not really sure I even have a good reason - because they fought to be together despite all the odds being against them, I guess. And because it involves vampires and is a fairly clean series. :-)

It would be more… prudent for you not to be my friend. But I’m tired of trying to stay away from you, Bella. - Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 4, p.84
So what are your favorite couples? Feel free to leave the link to your own BTT post in a comment here!

I love the Anne movies! I have not seen the 3rd one though & keep meaning to add it to my netflix! I need to go do that now

And I agree with tena about Noah and Allie ~ the book is SO much better than the movie!

Anne and Gilbert! Oh I love them.

I would also agree with the commentor who said Noah and Allie. They are wonderful.

I would have to say my favorite would be Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, and Edward and Eleanor. But I've always been a sucker for Austen.
