Librarians Get All the Fun
I want to know - why don't librarians smile more? It seems like they're always stressed out or are grumpy (or maybe they just don't like me? lol).
It just doesn't make sense to me! I mean, here they have the greatest job ever - right? Is there something I don't know about being a librarian? They probably get first dibs on good books coming out, they get to work around books ALL DAY (I'm so jealous) and discover new ones as they come across the counter, they get to learn about their patrons by the books they check out (that in itself would make the job so interesting... lol), and it's a nice, quiet environment in which they get to smell that lovely book-smell that should be bottled. ;-) I just don't get it, it seems like so many libraries I go to have librarians that either seem high-and-mighty or too stressed to smile back at you. There are exceptions, of course. But it just makes me wonder.
Maybe the next time I come across someone like that I'll ask them why they're not totally happy.
Having said all that, I am a little bit shy or reserved in person (though I do usually ask how their day is) and maybe they're just responding to my expression. Maybe I look high-and-mighty! *horrified gasp* I hope not, I don't feel that way. lol
Anyway. Just a random thought. ;-)

LOL I agree with you! I think it would be the best job ever. Although at the library that is about 3 blocks from my house, which I just discovered, the librarians are younger and much happier!
