Dragon's Milk

I secretly (well, not so secretly anymore) have a fascination with dragons. It all started with a book my mom read to me when I was a child - Dragon's Milk by Susan Fletcher. Dragon's Milk is a very well-written fantasy novel about Kaeldra, a young girl who is on a quest to save her little sister, who falls deathly ill with a disease that is only curable with a mother dragon's milk. Kaeldra finds herself bargaining with a dragon for some of the dragon's milk (she is surprised and a little dismayed to discover that she is one of the rare few humans who can communicate with dragons with her mind). I was completely drawn in on Kaeldra's journey and discovery of who she was. And I still am every time I re-read this and the next two books in the series - although a children's book, these stories are definitely not only for children. I can't wait to read this with Emma!
